Contempt of Court

I’ve witnessed those who walk into a room
ready to deny everything.

If they could, they’d grab the gavel
and smash their own fingers with it, against

the glossy tabletop.  Then turn it around,
cradling the head to point

the bloody handle at anyone there.
I’ve heard the accusations echo off the walls.
